Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT

Main Band must be in FULL BAND UNIFORM, yes FULL BAND UNIFORM for the practice on Friday the 11th of March (NEXT WEEK) for a publicity photo shoot for the Main Band Concert on the 16th of April. While youre there, Bruce would like all of the Main Band tick sheets back please ASAP.

The London Marathon

Hello Everybody. As you may have seen recently in the E.A.D.T. and Evening Star, I am running in the FLORA LONDON MARATHON on 17th APRIL on behalf of CLIC: Challenging Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood. CLIC has now amalgamated with Sargent Cancer Care For Children, a charity which the band supported a couple of christmasses ago with the carolling effort. I know that CLICSargent gives a lot of support to families in Suffolk at a very difficult time in their lives, so if you feel that you would like to sponsor me in my challenge for this worthy cause it would be very much appreciated. A sponsor form will be on the front desk or notice board at band.

Thankyou in anticipation,
Jo Payne.

Local Newsletters

Do you know of a newsletter that goes out to people around the area that we regularly play in, e.g. Aldeburgh or Tuddenham? If you do, Matt Ellis (publicity man) would be very grateful if you could let him have the contact details for it, so that we can get more new people along to our concerts. He says that a name, address, phone number and e-mail address would be great, but any would do. You can either pass him details at band, (heâll probably be helping the Inters), you can phone him on 01728 830009 or 07813 760499, or you could even e-mail him: [email protected].

The Beginners Need Your Help

Its not easy being a bandleader, let alone with the beginners (no offence). Mike and Sarah would like to ask any Main Band player or parent who can read music to go along to the beginners practices every Friday just to help them read the music. Speak to Mike after a Friday or Wednesday practice.

Band Workshop

What did you think of the band workshop? Was it excellent? Could it have been improved? If you think so, either way, please do tell your player rep or bandleader â" itâs the only way next year will be better!

Brass Training Day @ Norwich

There will be a brass training day held in Norwich on the 2nd of October 2005. Its from 9.30 à 5, and is best suited for players of about Main Band standard. If youre interested, speak to Mike Brierely.

CHARITY ABSEIL

Once again, this year the Band will be sending a contingent of willing characters to do the sponsored abseil down the maternity block of Ipswich Hospital on SUNDAY JULY 10TH. I did it a couple of years ago and it was TREMENDOUS FUN, so why dont you give it a go? We only have a few people so far, and all of the money raised will go to Martlesham Brass, so there is no excuse not to! We only have 10 PLACES LEFT, so please return the tear-off slip at the end of the newsletter to Chris Alexander or your bandleader BEFORE THE 25TH OF MARCH so I can book us on!

IF YOU PUT YOUR NAME DOWN AND THEN PULL OUT AFTER WE BOOK YOU MAY HAVE TO COVER YOUR ENTRANCE FEE. IF YOU DO DO THE CHALLENGE, THE BAND WILL PAY FOR YOUR ENTRANCE FEE.
