Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

Uniform

For some time now, the Main Committee have been researching and fundraising for new uniform for the entire band. We have recently been given a grant from Suffolk County Council for the purpose of purchasing new items for band members. Following many discussions in the Main Committee, it has been decided that a new band uniform will take effect from the Birthday Concert in September this year. It has been proposed that the committee buy new black ties for the band with a gold Martlesham Brass logo; band members must provide a smart, plain white shirt which can be tucked in, as well as the usual black trousers and smart shoes. In addition to this, supporters black polo shirts with gold logos will soon be available. Please write your order in the Uniform order book if you wish to buy one. They will be priced at approximately £12 - £15 each, depending on the volume of requests.

August Break

The last Friday rehearsal before the band's summer break will be on the 27th of July, and the last Wednesday rehearsal on the 18th of July (due to end of term). Band practices will recommence in the first week of September. Enjoy your holiday!

Instrument Repairs

If you feel that your instrument is in need of repair, please speak to your bandleader as we are planning to take some we already know about soon.

Attendance and Team Work

One of the key things with a band as brilliant as ours is the great team work. As a group of friends, we manage to create wonderful music with the minimum of stress. We do, however, rely on everyone to do their bit, so please try to attend rehearsals on time and go out of your way to attend our engagements. This makes them real quality experiences for our adoring fans and for us. Thanks for your continuing commitment and have a happy holiday if I don't see you before.
Bruce Eyley (Band Leader)

Newsletter Editor

I will be going away to University at the end of September, so the band will be in need of a newsletter editor. All you have to do is attend the monthly committee meetings and compile all the articles ready for printing for the Friday. It isn't as hard work as it sounds! If you're interested, talk to me and we'll see what we can do.
Chris (Ed)

Missing Key

A key was misplaced at band last week, if anyone picked one up or knows where it may be please tell your bandleader.

The Sound Of Music

The band has a block booking for the Saturday Matinée of The Sound Of Music on the 9th of February 2008. Tickets are £37 per seat and are in the Upper Circle, affording good views. If you are interested in going along, please speak to Liz Benyon as soon as possible, as payments have to be made for any tickets before the 27th of July. A coach will be organised as soon as numbers are confirmed.

Summer Fayre Success

Despite the weather the band raised an amazing £850 at our sumer fayre. Many thanks to everyone who helped, baked, washed up, cooked and otherwise helped with the organisation of the event.

Suffolk County Council

Many thanks to Suffolk County Council and Councillor Steven Hudson, because Martlesham Brass has received a cheque for £1500 from Steven's locality fund to go towards our new uniform project, this has been a great boost to our fundraising efforts.
