Auditions
The Main Band are currently in need of a second baritone player, and the Intermediates are looking for second and third cornet players which are due to be auditioned on the 16th of March. Please speak to your Bandleader if you're interested in auditioning for any of these positions.
Red Nose Day Cakes
We'll be holding a Red Nose Day cake stall on the 16th of March during the break between Intermediate and Main Band practices. Please bring along cakes for us to sell and, of course, money on the night to buy them!
Intermediates Extended Practice
As you already know, the Main and Intermediate bands are playing in a joint concert at Languard Fort on the 1st of April; if any of the Intermediates wish to do so, they can join in at the Main Band practice from 8pm until 8.30pm on the 30th of March to practice some of the music.
£250 from BT
Last month we received a £250 cheque from BT's Community Champions scheme that will be put to good use by the bandleaders â" I think Bruce had his eye on a tam-tam...
Beginner Helpers
The beginners band are looking for helpers to guide those learning music. Rehearsals take place between 6:45 and 7:45. Main band players are especially welcome.
Norwich Contest
Unfortunately, we have not had sufficient interest to enable us to form a band for the Norwich Entertainments Contest, so we will not be taking part this year.
EABBA Training Day
A brass training course has been set-up by the East Anglian Brass Band Association for the 7th of October between 10 and 4:30 at St Andrew's & Blackfriars' Halls in Norwich. This will be taken by Dr Nicholas Childs, and support by other members of the Black Dyke Band. Please speak to a bandleader if you are interested in attending.
Mouthpieces
We currently have budget set-aside to replace any mouthpieces that are old or unusable. If you're currently using a mouthpiece that is in a poor state, or you believe a different mouthpiece would help, please speak to your bandleader who'll help to get it replaced.
Alternative Talents â" Heads-up!
We're planning an alternative talents event to occur sometime this year. The idea is simple - to enable people to demonstrate their talents in a relaxed environment away from brass band playing. Your talent need not even be music related! Get your acts together now!
Car Treasure Hunt - Saturday 28th April
Please see Jayne for an entry form for this event.
Martlesham Brass Summer Fayre
This event is taking place on Saturday the 16th of June. We thought we would give you an opportunity to get this date in your diary, this is a great event and the whole band's support is essential, more details about the format of the event will follow soon. If anyone has any ideas for stalls or sources of grand draw prizes please let Jayne know as soon as possible.
