Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

5th March, 2011 - March Newsletter

I am very sad to announce that Derek Moyes, of the Intermediate band, passed away unexpectedly on 27th February 2011. Derek was a much loved member of Martlesham Brass and will be greatly missed by everyone. Derek will be fondly remembered both for his wealth of experience as a cornet player, always helping others to learn, and for his fantastic contributions to the Summer Fayre, with his 'Bric-a-brac' and ever-impressive plant stall. I am sure many of us still have some of the fruits of his labours still growing in our gardens. Derek had many friends in both Martlesham Brass and other bands that he previously played with.

A brief committal service will be held at Seven Hills Crematorium, at 2.15p.m, followed by a Celebration of his Life at Woodbridge Methodist Church, on Friday, March 11, at 3.00 p.m. The family have requested no flowers, but if you would like to make a donation in his memory please speak to me.

Mark Chalklen
Intermediate Bandleader.

Door Rota

We have a door rota at band so that players and parents can keep up-to-date with the band's activities. We're currently seeking some volunteers to help out. We'd require someone to cover once every 8 weeks. Please speak to Joy if you're available to help.

Intermediate Band Positions

The Intermediate Band is looking for Bass Trombone players.
To apply, please speak to your bandleader by the 18th of March.

Instruments

Whilst spring cleaning, please make sure you also clean out your instrument - washing out and lubricating slides and valves will keep it in tip-top condition, and save us from having to send instruments away for repair! Thanks.

"Our President" Concert

Paul has some recordings of the Main Band concert. These will be available on the 'Front Desk' at practice. If anyone wants to make a donation please speak to Mary.
