Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

Workshop and Main Band Concert

The event of the year!

The workshops carried out by David Thornton for all bands in two sessions on the 25th February were voted those who attended as a complete success. David has a personality that allows him to get across the important music making messages in a way that everyone can understand and enjoy.
The concert in the evening was also one of the best events that the band have ever taken part in. Davids performance and easy manner with both the audience and the band as well as a display of virtuosity that it would be difficult for anyone to match ensured that one of the largest audiences left the concert buzzing with excitement. In addition we also had Adams wonderfully crafted composition Peggys Tune, written for his grandmother, played to perfection by Sarah and the band.
If you were not lucky enough to get to see the concert on the night (or if you would like to hear it again) then Paul Benyon has a recording available.

Spring Concert

After the excitement of the Main Band concert and workshops all bands are now working on their programs for the Spring concert which will be held at St Michaels on the 12th May. After a near record turnout for the David Thornton concert it would be wonderful if we are again able to fill St Michaels for this event. So, mark your diaries (and more importantly those of your families and friends) and let us try to have a really good audience for this event.

Fund Raising Committee â" A Message from Jayne

As continuing chairman of the fundraising committee I would like to thank those that have volunteered to join the team this year and to extend an invitation to anyone wishing to help us to get in touch! We have a meeting every 6 weeks or so, these usually consist of drinking tea in my kitchen! Of course attending the meetings isn't compulsory, what is really important to us is having a group of people just willing to help, we always need tea makers, raffle ticket folders, quiz ticket sellers, there is always plenty to do! Please feel free to get in touch with your ideas and offers of help. I look forward to hearing from you - Jayne

Good Friday Practice

There will not be a band practice on Good Friday (6th April). We will resume on Friday 13th (for all of you who are prepared to leave the house on that day!

St Georges Day

The Main and Intermediate bands will again be taking part in the St Georges Day parade on the 22nd April in Felixstowe. A good turnout is expected for what is usually a very enjoyable walk along the Felixstowe sea front.
