Making music fun in east anglia

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Martlesham Brass has always held her in great esteem and we will miss her dedication and constant care for us.
We have followed her example of making our organisation open and welcoming to all.

We look to the future when we can celebrate her life and that of our new sovereign, King Charles III.

14th June, 2005 - Press Release 14/6/05

Martlesham Brass are holding perhaps their most important Concert so far when they are joined by one of the most esteemed Musicians of the Brass Band world for a Concert on 16th July 2005.

Brett Baker, Black Dykes principal trombone is viewed as one of Europe’s leading brass players and teachers. Before the age of twenty five he had won every major brass band competition. He is currently the most recorded trombone soloist in the brass band movement appearing on over twenty five CD’s. He is a past trombone solo champion of Great Britain and an Associate of the Royal College of Music. In 2001 he became a clinician for Besson Musical Instruments Ltd.

Brett Baker will be working with all Bands of Martlesham Brass throughout the day on the 16th July in a Workshop, as well as during normal practice on the Friday evening of the 15th July.

This is an extremely rare opportunity for all Band members, from Beginners to the most experienced Main Band players, to learn a huge amount about playing Brass instruments to the highest possible levels – Black Dyke have recently been crowned European Champions of the Brass Band world, and Brett Baker is a widely recognised and lauded player in his own right.

The Concert will be an extremely rare opportunity to see and hear a Brass Band player of Brett Baker’s calibre in the East of England. Anyone with even the most vague interest in music and performance will be astounded by the Concert, during which Brett will be joining all the bands of Martlesham Brass to perform.

The Concert takes place on Saturday 16th July 2005 from 7.30pm. It will be held in the Woodbridge Methodist Church. Tickets will be available at a cost of £5 a ticket. It is recommended that tickets are preordered as the Concert is likely to sell out very quickly – as said above, this is an extremely rare opportunity to witness a Concert featuring a Musician as highly regarded in his field as Brett Baker.
